4ALL YA Boxes – June: Monsters Of A Kind!

4ALL YA Boxes is an Australian book subscription box that provides a YA fiction paperback, candle and 3-8 bookish goodies relating to the theme of the box.

4ALL YA Boxes

Shipping Costs: $19 within Australia |  Varies internationally
Payment Method: Paypal

I was lucky enough to be sent this box free as I’m a rep on instagram for 4ALL YA Boxes! You can use my discount code BORGPRINCESS for 5% off on orders until the 18th of July. 🙂

When I opened the box, the theme card of the month was on top along with an envelope cutely decorated just for me.

Aaaagh, so sweet! No pressure either, lol. This is the second box I’ve repped for, but the first time I’ve received a personalized welcome letter, and I was really touched. ❤

On the flip side of the theme card is a list of the contents and where each item was sourced from in case you wanted to look up any companies for more goodies. 🙂

It’s A Monster’s World’ sticker by Jellyfable ($3.20 AUD): I love the design on this with the way the text intertwines with the guitar and the deep red of the background.

‘Baz’ (Carry On) bookmark from Words By Jasmine ($3.50): I haven’t read the book this is from (shame on me, I know), but the bookmark is cute! Nice choice of quote and I like the pensive expression on the character. ^_^ I’ve ordered the book from the library out of curiosity now!

‘Yew Tree’ candle from Kozy Korner: the best thing about this box is that they always include a candle and Kozy Korner has AMAZING candles! Not only does this one look great (that deep luscious green!) but it smells freaking fantastic. It makes a lovely change from a lot of the sweet floral candles I’ve received, I couldn’t stop inhaling this scent! ❤

‘He Could See The Monsters’ art print by 4ALL YA Boxes: this is inspired by Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, as you can see with the bird in the background. I don’t quite understand the quote, even though I’ve watched the movie, but it didn’t seem like a great adaptation, so maybe I’ve missed something…

OH, wait, a quick google search reveals that this is in reference to Jake’s grandfather, Abe, whose ability was to see the monsters aka the invisible Hallows. Lol at me, I thought it was referring to the ‘peculiar children’, whoops!

‘The White Witch’ bath bomb by Buzz Beauty Products ($5 AUD).

This is another beautifully scented item in the box! I’m a big fan of bath items being included, it’s such a great luxury and as I don’t buy these for myself, I’m excited whenever I find a bath bomb in  a box! 😀

Our Dark Duet‘ by V E Schwab ($14.75 AUD): and now we have our book of the month, the sequel to ‘This Savage Song‘.

Normally sequels are a little controversial in book boxes, but I appreciate that this was heavily hinted at early on and then Leish posted the book as a spoiler so that potential subscribers knew what they were getting.

Kate Harker is a girl who isn’t afraid of the dark. She’s a girl who hunts monsters. And she’s good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human. No matter how much he once yearned for it. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is a terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows-one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim’s inner demons-it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She’ll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.

This is quite highly rated on Goodreads (4.37 average at the moment), so I’m excited to read it! Kate is my kind of protagonist, I like an anti-heroine.

This box was very creatively curated! I wouldn’t have thought of that particular candle, for example, but it’s inspired by ‘A Monster Calls‘, so definitely in line with the theme! I like that the choice of inspirations were quite different from what a lot of boxes would’ve gone with; the White Witch from The Chronicles of Narnia is not something I’ve ever seen inspire an item before! And it’s cool that a few of the items were created exclusively for this box, so of course they tied in well with the Monster theme.

In terms of the types of items selected, I’m a happy camper with the candle and bath-bomb, since these are my favorite things to find in a box! Bookmarks are a pretty popular inclusion in book boxes and while I’m not super keen on art prints and stickers, I know that other subscribers love collecting these. Besides, for someone not into stickers, I had to admit that the one in this box looks stunning!

  1. I’ve never heard of this one, but I’m glad there’s more Sub choices for AUS customers since one company stopped (my friend Sammi was a subscriber but I can’t remember the name of the company now). Is it that Hardcover books are a US thing? I’ve noticed that the brand new books you guys get are always paperback but it takes us several months for a book to release in paperback! Then it’s the cheaper version with the HC being like $18 (USD) and the PB being $10. Just curious!

    • Unfortunately it’s really hard for subscription boxes over here! Sammi may have subscribed to The Dragon’s Hoard Box, I got that one a couple times and enjoyed it, but the costs are prohibitive for the box owners. 😦

We do have hardcovers here, but they’re super expensive, so it’s very rare (practically unheard of) to get a hardcover book in an Australian box! It’s double the cost of a paperback, so with book boxes, it’s obviously a better choice to get the paperback and save money for the goodies. I looove me some hardcovers, but I wait til they’re on sale through Book Depository and then snap them up. It makes me cackle with glee when I get one for like $15-$20 when it’s $40-ish in shops here!
