I received an email shipping confirmation on Tuesday 19th of July and my box arrived a week later on the 26th. ^_^

The first sight when you open this box is always an art print with something relating to the theme – for July, it’s Harley Quinn/Suicide Squad!

There’s always a ton of goodies to open with Kal-Elle, let’s get into it 😀

OVERVIEW OF CONTENTS

The info card is printed on a background matching the monthly theme – this is live-action Harley from the upcoming Suicide Squad, which I am SUPER excited for.

The 4 x 6 art print is always in this simplistic ‘splash art’ style, and I think it’s pretty cool! I like how even without much detail, you can instantly identify the character because the outline is so iconic.

Trio of magnets from Nerd Stuff Store ($4.09 AUD for similar item): I love me some magnets and these are neat – always happy to add to the magnet display on my fridge!

Suicide Squad drawstring bag: props for something new that I haven’t seen in a box before – it’s different to the ubiquitous tote. 😉

I don’t have too much use for this since I tend to carry everything but the kitchen sink around with me, and even my large handbags struggle to cope, so this drawstring bag wouldn’t be up to the task. I could use it to store small items I pack for the occasional sleepover, though!

Joker lanyard (prices vary between $1.99 USD on Aliexpress to $5.51 USD on a current ebay listing): this is excellent quality and the design looks great, very vibrant and maniacal in keeping with the Joker.

Unfortunately it’s another item I won’t get much use out of – I’ve never needed a lanyard in my life, lol. I wonder about the people who do use these – if you’re at the sort of workplace that requires an ID badge clipped to a lanyard, I imagine they’re probably too strict to let staff wear geeky ones like this?

Now to the jewelry, which is always individually wrapped in plastic and tucked into a pouch to keep it safe and secure.

Suicide Squad earrings (the nearest I could find was the same design but in stud earrings for $8.00 AUD).

Personally I would’ve preferred studs – I’m not a big fan of these hoop-type earrings because I haven’t worn earrings in YEARS until I started getting fandom jewelry boxes and my poor ears haven’t quite adjusted yet. Studs are easy to get in, but these curved ones are more painful for me! I’ll have to keep stabbing myself in the earlobes til they get accustomed to earrings again, lol.

On the bright side, you can easily slip the earring charms off the band, so I’m thinking I might see if I can attach them to a charm bracelet or maybe a necklace!

Harley Quinn necklace (varies from $300 PHP / approx $8.50 AUD to $15 USD): how cool is this?! It’s a good necklace for those who like ‘subtle’ homages to fandom without being over the top. ^_^

Closer look at the charms – the ‘Good Night’ baseball bat is my favorite, mwahaha. I can think of sooo many people I’d like to use this on. 😀

Harley Quinn adjustable bracelet: LOVE LOVE LOVE. I don’t mind wearing my fandom on my metaphorical sleeve, and live-action Harley is SO GODDAMN CUTE.

I have been wearing this bracelet and the above necklace all week, I’m so thrilled with these pieces. ❤

VERDICT

Quality of Curation: Kal-Elle has just kept improving throughout the months I’ve subscribed – there is a great variety on offer here with both the type of item included as well as the individual designs on each. I like the consistency with having a necklace, bracelet and pair of earrings each month, but then surprising subscribers with the rest of the items. There’s usually a couple that don’t appeal to me personally, but the items are always objectively well-designed and of good quality and sure to please other people!

Worth It? I also feel like the value has been increasing in the boxes I’ve received, besides which the cost of international shipping actually DROPPED by $5 which was amazing. I paid a total of $45.06 AUD for this and feel that was money well-spent. For US or UK subscribers, this is even better value for you lucky things, you definitely get more bang for your buck!
